23 days, 30 movies, and I finally present my list of the 10 favourite movies of 2015. This would be my first review after 4-month hiatus, and it has been long and tedious one. Even then, there are still movies I want to see, especially Son Of Saul and The Forbidden Room.

For reference purposes, only non-Indian productions, theatrically released within 2015 in the United States were considered. In addition to the top 10, I also have a list of honourable mentions.

The Martian

I have always been a fan of Ridley Scott. A master of critically acclaimed blockbusters, alongside James Cameron, Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan, Scott has produced some wonderful pictures including Alien, The Blade Runner, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down. Of course, he has faltered with recent films, but is sure back in business, with his latest Sci-fi adventure The Martian. Based on a best-selling novel by Andy Weir, The Martian, starring Mat Damon is the journey of an astronaut Mark Watney, mistakenly left behind on Mars, and his subsequent fight for survival.

Mission Possible!

Yeah, it should be called Mission Possible! This is the fifth time they are telling that something is “impossible” and then proceed to do exactly that. Has by any chance the meaning of “impossible” changed in the meantime. Some of you may still be scratching your heads now as to what I am talking about! It is about the fifth installment of the hugely popular Mission Impossible series. Banking on the super stardom of Tom Cruise, the series has always been a cash cow, while providing some high-octane action, and an American James Bond in Ethan Hunt. Terminate the “Terminator”, Please..

James Cameron’s 1984 classic The Terminator was my favorite film for a very long time. With a brilliant story, incredible writing and a career defining performance by Arnold Schwarzenegger,The Terminator did everything it was supposed to do and more – it thrills you, scares you and gives you plenty of excitement.
